This is a true gem of a LandCruiser. A 1979 BJ40 from Costa Rica, this is an extremely clean, head-turning vehicle. I started with this one in Costa Rica, where I had the body taken off of the frame and painted separately. All bodywork was stripped down to bare metal and the very minimal repairwork that had to be done was done in steel. Lots of parts of this car have been replaced or reconditioned to give it an amazing asthetic value. The recent maintenance has been thorough: all new fluids, new exhaust, new window seals, new tires, 3-point seat belts, and much more. Everything works on this LandCruiser and there is not one spot of rust.
Here are some of the reasons this isn't your average diesel LandCruiser:
Disc brakes
I've installed disc brakes on all four corners of the vehicle. New brake lines are everywhere, including stainless steel braided lines from the chassis to the axle. The stainless steel braided lines do amazing things for a firm pedal feel. I.ve also installed a brake proportioning valve to adjust the rear brake pressure and perfect the stopping ability. You will be hard-pressed to find another vehicle from the same era that stops as firmly as this one.
Air Conditiong and heat
A custom A/C setup has been installed, compiled out of readily-available parts here in the U.S. The A/C blows as cold as can be, and finally it can be comfortable driving in a 40 series LandCruiser! This setup doubles as a heating system, as Cruisers in Costa Rica originally had no heater unit.
Electric Cooling Fan
The engine-driven fan has been replaced by an up-to-date Flex-a-lite electric fan. Not only is this more efficient with cooling the motor (and thus frees up a little drag in power), but it helps the A/C stay ice cold.
...the rest of this cruiser's beauty is obvious, and you may scroll down to see it. To see this one-of-a-kind vehicle in person, please contact:
